ANDRIY HALASHYN
BIO OF THE ARTIST
Andriy Halashyn (Ukraine, 1979) accompanies his father – a fine stained glass artist, to Costa Rica, which he later decides to make his country of residence. Today Halashyn has achieved global notoriety: exhibiting his lush dystopian paintings in leading galleries around the world that have a rich cosmopolitan edge while retaining references to high-end pop culture, fashion and advertising. His oil technique with a graphic charm is saturated with color; while collage-like compositions juxtapose flights of fancy with an eye to today's rigidity. In his works Halashyn explores the drastic contrasts between media streams and the everyday realities of life, all with a dramatic flair in both color and composition. His work has earned him several awards in both Costa Rica and Ukraine.
